◆ ABOUT THIS TOOL

What Is a Card?

A card bundles a thumbnail, a title, a line of text and an action into one tappable unit.

Cards work because they map one thing — an article, a product, a profile — to one bounded surface. The recipe is consistent: a media area with a fixed aspect ratio so rows align, a body with a clear type hierarchy (title a step or two above the text), and an optional footer for the action.

The surface does the framing: a hairline border or a soft shadow (rarely both at full strength), a radius that matches your system, and overflow: hidden so the media respects the rounded corners.

Keep the type scale tight: 16–20px titles over 13–15px body at ~1.5 line-height reads well at card width. One accent colour for the action link is enough.

Because the media uses aspect-ratio, cards in a grid keep equal heights and the image never collapses — the same value is written into the CSS and the Tailwind aspect-… class.

📐 ANATOMY

The Parts of the Card

What each generated rule does.

C

.card

The surface: background, hairline border, radius, shadow and overflow: hidden so the media clips to the corners.

M

.card-img

A fixed aspect-ratio block (16:9 / 4:3 / 1:1) so every card in a row has the same media height.

B

.card-body

Padding plus a small vertical gap between title and text — spacing stays consistent without margins.

T

.card-title / .card-text

A two-step type hierarchy with margin: 0; the gap on the body does the spacing.

F

.card-foot

An optional action row, padded to line up with the body, holding a single accent link.

S

Shadow presets

Layered, low-opacity shadows (a tight contact layer plus a wide ambient one) read softer than a single hard blur.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Add overflow: hidden to the card so the media clips to the border-radius — the generator includes it.

Put them in a grid or flex row with align-items: stretch and make the card a column flex; the body can then grow.

Pick one dominant cue: a hairline border on light UIs, or a soft shadow on busy/coloured backgrounds. Both at full strength looks muddy.

16:9 for landscape thumbnails, 4:3 for products, 1:1 for avatars or social tiles. Consistency matters more than the choice.

No — the preview uses a gradient placeholder; on your site you drop your own <img> into the media area.
