Structured data that tells search engines exactly what a page is about.
Schema markup is code — usually JSON-LD inside a <script type="application/ld+json"> tag — that describes the content of a page using the shared schema.org vocabulary: a product and its price, an article and its author, a business and its opening hours. Search engines use it to understand pages and to show rich results.
This page generates two common types. WebSite markup on your home page helps Google choose the site name shown in search results. Person markup describes a person — ideally inside ProfilePage markup on an about-me or author page.
For other types, use the dedicated generators — each one knows Google's rules for its type: FAQ, Article, Breadcrumb, Product, Local Business and Organization.
Note: the sitelinks search box that WebSite markup with SearchAction used to trigger was retired by Google in November 2024, so this generator doesn't add it.

Frequently Asked Questions
JSON-LD. Google recommends it because it sits in one script tag, separate from your HTML, and is easy to maintain. All our generators output JSON-LD.
On the home page of your domain or subdomain only — for example https://example.com/ or https://blog.example.com/. Google's site names don't work for subfolders like example.com/shop/.
No. Google retired the sitelinks search box in November 2024, so WebSite markup with a SearchAction no longer triggers anything. Leaving old SearchAction markup in place is harmless.
When the page's main subject is one person — an author page, an about-me page or a team-member profile. The Person goes in ProfilePage's mainEntity.
Yes. A home page can have WebSite and Organization markup; an article page can have Article and Breadcrumb markup. Add each as its own script tag, or connect them with @id references.
Not directly. It helps search engines understand your pages and makes them eligible for rich results, which can improve how your listing looks and how often it's clicked.
